Whether you want to get crafty and make your kids a cute snack or turn it into a "snack-tivity" for the fam, the kids will be sure to love it. Using things you likely already have in your house, turn an apple into a pond, lake or ocean!
What you'll need:
An apple (you could substitute for a pear, circle crackers or a bagel)
Blue food colouring
Gold fish (or blue whale candies)
Cream cheese (or greek yougurt)
What to do:
Lay the apple on it's side and cut it into thin slices
Cut a circle in the middle to remove the core
Mix cream cheese and food colouring
Spread cream cheese onto apples (this is a great step for kids to jump in on)
Add your toppings
Enjoy!
We love a good themed activity around here, and this week we were really into animals that live in water. Ocean themed books, sensory bins, puzzles and shows were a big hit with the kids; so we carried it over to snack time.
I am curious, do you do themed activities in your house? Why or why not?
I find if I follow the interests of the kids, doing things in themes makes it less overwhelming for all of us. Then instead of having ocean animals, dinosaurs, rainbows, vehicles, construction toys and activities all on the go at once, we pick one or two themes based on interests of the kids and add them to a rotation with our regular toys that they always have access to (building blocks, magnatiles, kitchen set, ect)
