Christmas Sweater Craft for Toddlers

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

Easy Preschool Activity | Craft for Toddlers!

This activity is perfect for preschools and daycares; it is easy to prep, it's easily adaptable for all ability levels, and encourages creativity!

For younger kids you could put out something to colour with, Christmas stickers, and easy peal and stick items. In the photo above, everything except the pom poms and bells are adhesive on the back. To make it more challenging you could add cutting, gluing, or lacing components; and still get a really cute craft!

A paint tray is a great, and affordable way to organize loose parts for kids to chose from. It is a lot easier to make decisions, think creatively, and avoid frustration if all the materials are organized (for adults and children!)

Kids feel a great sense of ownership when they are able express their creativity, which makes activities like this meaningful to them.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) cut construction paper or felt into the shape of a sweater

2) source the items for your "loose parts" tray(s)

MATERIALS:

- construction paper

- scissors

Optional

- Metallic Sharpies (they work great on construction paper!)

- pom poms, pipe cleaners, stickers, markers, paint, adhesive christmas ornaments, cotton balls, etc
