DIY Dowel Drawer/Cabinet Pulls

In this post we're talking about how I made these DIY wooden dowel handles. Since it was a flip-to-sell project, I wanted an elevated look on a budget.

This style of handles was my inspiration, but I didn't want to spend $100 on hardware alone, so I made my own for a fraction of the price!

I started with a 1/2in dowel and cut it into 9in pieces. Then I sanded down the edges until I was happy with how rounded they were.

You can see the rounded edges vs the raw edge in the picture above. I added a few coats of this verathane.

Next, I spray painted these Copper Tee's black and used them to attach the handle to the drawer front.

This 5/8in dowel was the perfect fit for the backside of the copper tee, this will be the part you drill into to secure the pull to the drawer.

I used some clear caulk to seal between the dowel and copper tee, and some gorilla glue to hold the dowel in the backside off the tee.

My husband helped me drill the pilot holes and attach the handles to the drawers because that is not my strong suit and I didn't want to make a silly mistake right at the end of the project.

I love how these inexpensive DIY's elevated the look of this budget dresser makeover!
